Poppleton Hall

A piece of
Poppleton history
The picture, taken in the early 1900’s, shows at the left side, Mrs. Mitchell with her son Keith in the centre. Herbert Mitchell, Keith’s grandfather is on the right hand side. The photo was supplied by Mrs. G W Dawson of Nether Poppleton.
Poppleton Hall formed part of the York Hospital establishment as the  Poppleton Hall Annexe (1942 - 1955) as a convalescent annexe . After 1955  Poppleton Hall was designated a hospital in its own right, but continued to take patients who were long stay or convalescent. A short history of the hospital can be found in the  Guide to Hospital Records, by K Webb at The Borthwick Institute, (in the York University campus).
