The History Society, with the Archaeology Group, possesses a host of records, artifacts, and transcripts gathered over many years. These are stored in members’ homes and in other locations with little possibility of proper maintenance or public display. The Society is in great need of a location where its precious and irreplaceable items may be safely stored and available for all to view and conduct research.
In 2007 efforts were made to plan an expansion of the Poppleton Library to accommodate our artifacts. This proved to be impracticable so a joint plan was discussed to work with the Poppleton Centre Trust and participate in developing a location in the proposed new Centre entrance area that could be used to display and store artefacts that would then be available for the viewing and enjoyment of the villagers. We hope that this work may prove to be successful as and when the Trust manage to secure development grants for its ambitious plans.
