Allotments

There are two allotment sites in the village of Upper Poppleton. One is located at the end of Beech Grove and the other is in the Main Street next to the Library.

Beech Grove Allotments

There are eight allotments on this site, each approximately 300 square metres. All are tenanted. The land is owned by the Parish Council but the allotments are run as a self-managing group. Currently there is a waiting list of six people. Any enquiries about these allotments should be directed to John Cooke who can be contacted on 01904 784857.

 Main Street Allotments

There are seven allotments on this site. All are currently let.  There are currently four people on the waiting list which is kept by the Clerk.  Please contact the Clerk if you wish your name to be added to the list.

The Poppleton Gardens’ Guild store is located on the Main Street allotments site near to both the library and the school.

It is open as follows:


Saturday - February to October - 10 am to 12 noon.
Sunday - April and May - 10 am to 11 am.
Thursday - April to September - 7pm to 8 pm


There is a wide range of composts, feeds, seeds, chemical treatments etc. available as well as ground cover treatments such as weed suppressant and agricultural fleece.  Bulbs, sets and seed potatoes are available in season and there are usually young plants grown by members available in spring and early summer.
